The Agency is assigned prepare and implement national space program in line with the policies determined by the President to prepare strategic plans including medium and long-term goals, basic principles and approaches, targets and priorities, performance standards and methods of distribution and distribution of methods to be followed, to develop a competitive space and aviation industry, expanding the use of space and aviation technologies in line with the welfare of the society and national interests,  to develop scientific and technological infrastructures and human resources in space and aerospace technologies, to increase capacity and capabilities and to acquire facilities and technologies that will enable independent access to space. to make use of the expertise and knowledge in aerospace and aviation science and technologies and other sectors of the national industry, to decide on the use of rights under national sovereignty and space management systems and space-based systems, to conduct the spectrum and trajectory allocation and coordination activities before International Telecommunication Union (ITU), to register the records of the objects thrown into space on behalf of the State in accordance with the international treaties, to carry out the registration procedures at the United Nations or to perform the registration procedures, to conduct commercial, scientific and research-development space operations, to make plans, projects and works in order to design, manufacture, integrate and carry out necessary tests of all kinds of products, technologies, systems, facilities and equipment related to space and aviation, including satellite launch vehicles and systems, aircraft, simulators and space platforms, providing the necessary permits and co-ordination for the launching, orbiting and returning of the satellite and space vehicles to be sent to the space by public institutions and private sector organizations; to record information on the launching, to return to orbit and returning from abroad, to determine the principles and principles related to the exportation of the critical space and aviation technologies of the country in coordination with the relevant institutions and organizations, to develop R & D and high technology entrepreneurship support programs in order to reduce foreign dependency in aerospace and aviation science and technologies, to increase competitiveness in international arena, to establish scientific and technological infrastructure and to develop all kinds of new technologies having as its own special budget and administrative and financial autonomy.

As of the date of the entry into force of this Presidential Decree, the General Directorate of Aerospace Technologies within the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has been closed down.
